Took to the trees in Sonoma County for the sweetest dreams

The following description is courtesy of the architects. Nestled amongst giant redwoods in Western Sonoma is a luxurious treehouse where you can relax and rejuvenate in nature from a bird’s eye view.

The Hometree Spyglass™, designed and built by Artistree®, is a one-of-a-kind experience seamlessly offering you both the wild adventure of sleeping in a redwood tree and unexpected creature comforts—even a cedar hot tub overlooking the forest ravine and an inside sauna! As you step into this extraordinary haven, you’ll be greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking panoramic views of the lush forest canopy and a harmonious blend of reclaimed wood, bespoke furnishings, and wonderful amenities. It’s a testament to architectural brilliance and environmental consciousness. Giving you an up-close view of these magnificent towering giants, the space is also caring for the planet with solar panels, rainwater collection, and an array of eco-friendly toiletries.

Nestled high amongst towering redwoods, you can enjoy your morning coffee on the deck serenaded by the array of local birds, and, in the evening, experience a serene sunset filtered by the forest, watching the ravens come home. The quiet peacefulness of sleeping here is undeniable.

The cozy space is outfitted with a king bed, a small kitchenette, plus inside and outside seating areas. It is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway or a weeklong solo retreat in nature. Wander the small orchard on the property (pick some fruit when in season) or venture out—to the Sonoma Coast, local vineyards, or the sweet town of Occidental; it’s up to you.

Artistree, internationally known for their award-winning treehouses and tiny homes, imagined the Spyglass treehouse to give a unique window into the surrounding environment. Like old fashion spyglasses used to magnify what is in the distance, this treehouse brings you up close to nature with its round spherical design and an open window looking out into the forest. Supported by a living redwood, Artistree designed the Spyglass to move with the tree and give guests a true sense of being up in the canopy. Artistree’s mission to protect, preserve and share forests pays homage to the fallen old-growth forests of the area with this treehouse through its work with regenerative forest practices.

Using resource-efficient and sustainable building solutions as part of our construction process, Artistree continues to push the envelope on environmentally conscious designs and construction, doing most of the construction by hand rather than with heavy equipment, designing the unit to work with the existing terrain and plants rather than pushing the land around to make the land conform to the design, and Artistree incorporates building materials like hemp wool insulation and electric heat pumps that are easy on the environment both now and during the life of the Spyglass. “We strive to amplify the existing beauty of the locations we build at and allow wildlife and nature to flourish, which gives guests an extraordinary experience they’ll never find in a box hotel,” said Will Beilharz, Artistree’s founder and president.
