The conviction of a technology that gives runners real added value. On gave us the confidence to go a new way.

Our mission

How do you invent running shoes that are fundamentally new? That was no simple question for Swiss company On, who accepted this challenge with unfulfilled curiosity and passion. Motivated to always question the status quo, even when it is considered by many to be too big, for nine years On has been committed to this strategy and will continue to do everything it can in the future to stay fresh and innovative. The conviction of On’s radically new technology gave them that confidence to redesign the running shoe.

The origin of On

On was born in the Swiss mountains; that’s where it all started. Not only did the founders grow up in the mountains, but the whole idea for the company originated in the Swiss Alps. Even today, On still uses the impressive silence and imposing diversity of the mountains as her best source of inspiration.

Why the Swiss mountains?

The Swiss mountains are among the most beautiful, challenging, and most rewarding natural landscapes in the world. As a Swiss company, On likes it a lot (to be slightly biased) but they are very proud of their “front yard” and with the ability to share it with the world.

A very special place in the Swiss mountains is the Piz Lunghin am Lunghin Pass, which is known as the “roof of Europe”. Here arise the three significant rivers of Europe: the Danube, the Rhine, and the Po which connect the Swiss Alps to the Black Sea, the North Sea and Mediterranean sea together. It is a place that leads people back to their origin.

In the summer of 2019, On wanted to enable the world to enjoy this special place. Because for a limited period, On will be at that very place to build a specially designed mountain hut.

Love for the mountains, design, and innovation inspired On’s ambition inspired this unique cottage, with every detail of the perfect mountain contributing to life.
