Located over several small islands within the Lofoten archipelago, the small Norwegian fishing town of Henningsvær is home to just 500 residents. That didn’t stop them from creating what might be one of the most stunning soccer fields on the planet. Set within the jagged rock, open sea, and epic mountains, the pitch was created by levelling the bedrock, laying artificial turf and wrapping the field with a perimeter of asphalt parking.

There are no stands but on-watchers can perch themselves on the rocks and take in the views on and off the field.

Drying racks for cod lace the field, reminding visitors of the town’s humble setting.
